Dr A M Antony worked for 30 years in five colleges under the University of Calicut and retired from MES Mampad College as Associate Professor on 31st March 2013. His effectiveness as a true academician and strict disciplinarian has been felt in the colleges he has worked for. He was the founder Principal of Sahya Arts and Science College Wandoor and worked there for a period of three years. He has joined as Principal in Peevees Model School, Nilambur on 1 st June 2016
He is a graduate in economics from the University of Calicut after which he took to the track of physical education and sports sciences. He took masters degree in physical education from the university of Mysore and diploma in athletics from National Institute of Sports, Bangalore. In 2004, he has been awarded Doctoral Degree in Health Related Physical Fitness from the University of Calicut. He was redesignated as Reader by the University of Calicut by considering research experience and publication.
He was the only Reader from the Arts and Science Colleges in Physical Education in the University of Calicut. Later he was redesignated as Associate professor. Currently, he is a research Guide in physical education and sports sciences in Bharthiyar University , Karpugan University, and Mahatma Gandhi University, and a number of scholars are pursuing PhD under his supervision. He was the member of UG and PG board of studies of the University of Calicut for a span of 7 years, and subject expert for interviews. His relentless effort and meticulous work along with the team of experts led to the introduction of Physical Education as an Open Course in the newly introduced Choice Based Credit and semester system in the University of Calicut in the year 2010.
He got the best paper award in the international conference organized by the Alagappa University in 2010. He has presented papers in five international seminars and 13 national seminars. He was the Editor of “Voice of Sports “ (ISSN allotted and RNI recognized research journal on physical education and sports .) for seven years . He has also authored five books and ten articles in research journals till date. He has released an exercise DVD entitled ‘Stay Fit Programme’ in 2012. Apart from academics he is also a well known figure in the field of martial arts. He is an international instructor in Taekwondo with 6th Degree Black belt. Some of the international championships that he officiated include the championships at Pyongyang, North Korea in 2011 and in Dubai in 2008.
